Mix 2 cups of grated
Ivory® soap with ¼ to ½ cup of water to form a smooth paste. For lighter,
fluffier soap dough, use an electric mixer. Add more water or soap as needed
until the mixture is smooth. Stir in a few drops of food coloring, then blend
in a few drops of scented oil and mix well. Lightly coat your hands with some
vegetable oil and form the mixture into small balls. Place the soap balls on a
sheet of wax paper and let them harden for several hours.
Let the lucky recipient of
your homemade soap know that you made it just for her by adding a personal
touch to the balls. Use your mom’s favorite color, or add different exfoliants,
like oatmeal, coffee grounds, or sugar. There are plenty of ways to personalize
the soap, and the gifts will be appreciated that much more.
To give the soap as gifts,
wrap the balls individually in colored tissue paper, or leave them unwrapped
and put them into a decorative bowl, tin, or basket.
