If you’re anything like
me, you’re already looking forward to celebrating the Fourth of July next week
with a big ol’ family picnic, colorful sparklers, and a beautiful fireworks
display.
But for kids, every day
feels like a holiday when they’ve got bubbles! And there’s no need to supply
them with a store-bought solution. You can help them stir up a never-ending
supply right at home using this simple recipe. Then let ‘em rip!
Mix together 2 parts
dishwashing liquid, 2 parts water, and 1 part vegetable oil in a shallow bowl
or tub. Then have the kids dip their bubble blowers into the fabulous fluid,
and make lots and lots of marvelous, miraculous bubbles.
If you don’t already have
bubble blowers on hand, no problem! When I was a kid, my friends and I used to
make giant bubble blowers by bending a wire clothes hanger into a circle (more
or less), leaving the hook in place to use as a handle. Then we’d dip the loop
into the bubble solution, and draw it gently through the air—making the biggest
bubbles you’ve ever seen.
You can also use plastic
berry baskets for bubble blowing. Just dip the basket into the solution and
wave it around in the air. You’ll be amazed at the big blast of bubbles!
Here’s wishing you a safe
and happy Fourth of July!
